Panthera S2 Swing

Panthera, the maker of the world’s lightest wheelchairs, contracted Reload to develop an innovative new release mechanism for their best-selling S2 Swing wheelchair. The mechanical design improvements on the movable leg support resulted in lower part count, simplified manufacturing and improved part stability. The mechanical design solution also enabled Panthera to move to high volume manufacturing with higher tolerance parts, lower cost and improved usability.

A manual wheelchair is often used 15 -17 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year; year after year. The wear on this type of wheelchair is considerably larger than what it is, for example, racing bikes and cars

Parametric Design

Reload design engineers supply clients like Panthera with 3D CAD data early on in the design process in order to enable the customer’s R&D department to meet tight production schedules. By utilizing the latest visualization 3D CAD software, we ensure that the client can evaluate all stages of the product development from early concepts to late stage mechanical engineering. Advanced surface modeling software with parametric solid Cad systems enable us to produce cost effective rapid prototypes, engineering and high volume production ready parts. With these services available, Panthera could outsource the design engineering of the S2 Swing with great confidence that the project would meet their rigorous in-house requirements.
